Pentatonix, or PTX for short is an American a cappella group from Texas, who reached fame with they won the 3rd season of NBC's The Sing-Off. The band consistes of Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee. The band combines vocal harmonies, bass lines, percussion and beatboxing.
After winning The Sing-Off, the band was dropped by their record label. This didn't stop them. They started a YouTube channel and distributed their music that way. Their channel currently has over 18 million subscribers and 5 billion views. One of their most popular videos was a tribute to Daft Punk. It currently is over 344 million views as of February 2021.
The group has had one member leave. In 2017, Avi Kaplan left and was replaced by Matt Sallee.
